The Subtropical fruit Lúcuma (also known as “Gold of the Incas”) which is native to the Andean valleys of Peru, is an ancient super-food which can be traced back 8000 BC to a place called “Callejon de Huaylas in Ancash, Peru, where the culture Moche resided. There have been archaeological discoveries of art portraying Lucuma in the shape of ceramics, sculptures and knitting’s from Pre-Incas civilizations such as the Moche and Nazca.

The delicious subtropical fruit is rich in antioxidants and has many beneficial properties including, high levels of carotene, fiber, vitamins, minerals vitamin B3, and other B vitamins. It is well known for its sweet maple flavour and low sugar content. It is highly sought after around the globe by chefs to add the final touch or for the base of their recipe.

Native to the high mountains of Peru, Lucuma obovata is harvested once a year. The fruit is round and green with the inside of a sweet orange pulp with high nutrient content.

The Lucuma flesh is dehydrated at low temperature and then ground into a fine powder.
